As a community of faith, we rely upon volunteers to lead, support and guide all of our ministries, especially our outreaches to our local community and beyond. We would love to have your help and participation at any point – specifically with our SAWs ramp builds and with our daycare ministry. Servants at Work (SAWs)
Call John Anderson, our SAWs team leader to find out where you can specifically help right now: 765.344.1626. Please feel free to join our team for any of these builds. Normally, the builds include some pre-building on the Wednesday or Thursday before the team goes out on Saturday. Again, check with John Anderson for more information.
Faith Learning Academy
Faith Learning Academy started this August (2022) through the initiative of Tonya Dortch. Tonya has decades of experience in early childhood education, and the ministry serves as an extended-day preschool for kids ages 4 & 5 years old. Meeting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the school year, the classroom is from 8 am to 1 pm, and includes lots of great time for social interaction, and learning.
Here’s how Tonya describes the ministry: “Faith Learning Academy is a Faith based, extended day preschool with an intensive Kindergarten readiness curriculum that is new to Putnam County. Choosing a preschool for your child can be overwhelming and as a parent you want to feel comfortable with the person that you are entrusting your child’s education, safety and well being with. With that being said, (and being new to the county) I would like to talk a little bit about who I am and what I do.”

I, Tonya Donaldson, am the owner and teacher of Faith Learning Academy and my preschool is in its 4th year of existence. I am a native of Vincennes IN where I have had over 15+ years experience in Early Childhood Education from teaching in preschools to teaching at Vincennes University in their ECE program. I received a degree from the University of Evansville in Psychology (with a focus on children) and then went on to University of Southern Indiana and received a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have a 13 year old daughter, Brooklyn, who is in the 8th grade at South Putnam. We relocated to Greencastle to be with my fiancé, Roger Dortch. I love all things Disney, especially RunDisney events, St Louis Cardinals, Jeeps, McDonald’s Diet Coke and Christmas.

My main focus for my preschool is to instill in my students to make good choices and focus on treating each other the way God wants us to. I run a very structured, routine oriented, nurturing classroom and I believe that children learn best through play and play based teaching activities. My students come out of Faith Learning Academy fully prepared for the social-emotional and educational demands of Kindergarten.
